From choosing the right size to checking coverage and snugness, we'll guide you through every step so you're ready for every splash!

In this blog you'll discover:

  • How to check sizing and coverage to prevent leaks
  • Tips for keeping your child comfy, confident, and ready for every swim

First, let’s look at the main differences between the Happy Nappy and Jammers. The Happy Nappy™ is a fitted reusable swim diaper made from super-soft 1mm neoprene, with special fabric at the waist and thighs to form a secure seal and contain solids. Its contoured shape cups your baby’s bottom to prevent gaps and comes in sizes from newborn up to 4–5 years.

Jammers™ offer the same protection in a sporty, “big kid” style that looks like regular swim shorts. Also made from 1mm neoprene, they feature medical-grade silicone seals around the thighs for reliable coverage. Jammers are sized for toddlers from 2–3 years up to 5–6 years, giving children freedom of movement while staying secure.

1. Happy Nappy & Jammers Dressing Guide

  • Step 1: Hold the Happy Nappy™ or Jammers with the front facing out. Gently scrunch down the top until your thumbs come through the leg holes, creating a thick band of material with the leg holes at the bottom.
  • Step 2: One leg at a time, stretch the leg hole to fit your child's leg. Slide it up to the top of their thigh, then repeat for the other leg.
  • Step 3: With the diaper or Jammers on the thighs, lift your child and pull the back up over their bottom. A gentle “jump” motion can help ensure a snug fit around their bottom and tummy.
  • Step 4: Check that the thigh ribs lay flat and the waist rib reaches the belly button. Make sure it’s snug and comfortable with no twisting or gaps.

2. The Importance of the Right Fit

Wearing the correct size Happy Nappy™ or Jammers ensures your child can move freely in the water without discomfort. A snug fit also prevents leaks, so there's no unexpected “code brown” during your lesson! Always try on swim diapers before the first swim, and avoid buying a size your child is expected to grow into; it won't perform as needed. Before each swim, inspect the diaper for any signs of wear and tear.

Here's how to check the fit:

2.1 Happy Nappy™ Check Fit:

  1. The Lycra waistband should sit snugly at the waist, with leg cuffs secure and no gaping.
  2. No diaper wrap or under-diaper should be visible, to maintain the seal.
  3. You should be able to fit two fingers above and two fingers below the waist comfortably.
  4. The waistband should sit high on the tummy, above the belly button, without leaving red marks.
  5. If it slips down, the diaper may be too large or the Lycra may have worn out. Gently pull the waistband and release; it should snap back. If not, it's time for a new diaper.
  6. Always measure your child's waist (at belly button height) and top of thighs before ordering.

2.2 Jammers™ Check Fit:

  1. The waistband should sit snugly and be comfortably pulled up to the tummy.
  2. No diaper wrap or under-diaper should be visible.
  3. Fit two fingers down the waist, with no red marks on the skin.
  4. Ensure the silicone seal at the thigh ribs stays against the legs to prevent leaks.
  5. If the Jammers slip, they may be too big or the Lycra may have worn out. Gently tug the waistband, it should spring back and stay snug.
  6. Measure waist (at belly button) and top of thighs before ordering.
